There are strict rules governing the breeding of English Thoroughbreds. Foals can only have XX listed after their names to designate them as members of the breed if both their parents were also English Thoroughbreds. Most English Thoroughbreds are trained for racing. However, they also make excellent showjumpers.
Every year, around 100,000Â English Thoroughbred foals are registered around the world.
